Common Questions

Want to know a little bit more before you make a decision? Here you will find common questions asked by my clients. Please feel free to contact me if you have other questions, 818-268-1721 or email me here

  • How do I know what therapist is right for me? Most people are looking for a therapist they can connect with, who can understand what they're going through - how difficult it is and how can I get out of my situation. See in which way I am different: CounselingAbout me.
  • Who do you see in your private practice? I mainly work with couples - together or individually - who want to heal their relationship and see it last; and singles wanting to know how to have a successful relationship from the get-go.
  • What are my specialties? See ServicesCouple SkillsCouples CounselingCouple Skills Chart; Workshops.
  • Where am I located? I have locations in Beverly Hills, West Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley. See Location - Maps.
  • Are you accepting new clients? I am accepting new clients. I'm available for evening and day-time appointments on some days. Sometimes I can even see you on the day you call if I’m not already seeing someone else.
  • How long is a session? If I’m charging you by the hour, typically therapy hours are 50 minutes long. I prefer however to charge you a set price for an issue. See Couple Skills Chart. Then sessions can go for longer, especially if you are in crisis and need more time.
  • How often will I see you? I generally meet with my clients weekly. But when needed, I will see you more often: sometimes because of a crisis; and sometimes to ensure the ball is kept rolling so the changes you are trying to make will take root and be lasting.
  • What is your fee? See Fees & Pay Online.
  • What forms of payment do you accept? I accept cash, check, Visa and MasterCard.
  • What insurance plans do you take? I provide a super bill at the end of the month for my clients to submit to their insurance. See Insurance.
  • How do I make an appointment? Making an appointment is easy. Call me at 818-268-1721 or email me here. If I am with another client, please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • What should I expect when I call? It can be difficult to leave your name and number. You may feel that "no one really knows what I'm going through, so how can I trust someone I don't know? I don't want anyone to know I'm even calling. How can I reveal stuff about my relationship?" Use a pseudonym if it makes you feel more comfortable. If you call and I don't answer, just leave your (pseudo)name and number you can be reached and what time you prefer I call you back. If you don't want me to leave a message just say: "please call me back but don't leave any messages." If you don't want to be called back at all, just email me at moshegutnick@gmail.com and we can take it from there. If I answer when you call, I'll ask you to tell me a little of what you're going through and what you're looking for so I can see if I can help you and if we're a good fit. I want you to find the best help possible whether it is with me or someone else. If we do decide to make an appointment, I'll let you know when I'm available and ask you what time you prefer. I invite you to take the courage to make the first call. You'll be happy you did! You will feel relieved that you've finally reached out and taken the first step towards getting the relationship you ought to be having! So take a deep breath and dial my number: 818-268-1721! There’s no charge for the initial consult.
  • What to expect when we meet? We will both sit down across from each other in an average-sized nicely decorated room with comfortable chairs and couches and I'll ask you to share what's on your mind. You will tell me as much as you feel comfortable revealing and I'll let you know what I think - and suggest to you the different options that are available to you. I will describe to you my methods and in which way I can or can’t help you. Remember that everything shall remain confidential. I will discuss what fee you can afford, when and how long we should meet and what paperwork needs to be filled out should you choose me to be your counselor. Either way, from this discussion, you should feel hopeful that you will get the right help from me or from a referral I will make for you. I realize you may feel anxious and have various concerns. I will take the time to patiently address your concerns in a calm and respectful way.
  • What if I still don't know if counseling is for me? I offer a free consultation session to help you make this decision. Counseling is a commitment to making your life better. It can feel overwhelming to find someone to trust. After the first session, if you feel that you may need another therapist, I will provide you with referrals. You are not obligated to continue with me. I just want to see you succeed. So
